Welcome to Why Secede! This is a site which was created some time ago in anticipation, but certainly not in the hope, of a time when the political atmosphere in the United States, being so hopelessly polarized, would warrant the suggestion that:
- within one single country exists, in fact, two distinct ideologies, so far apart as to give all appearances of any reconciliation being impossible.
- the best solution to this situation is the establishment of separate countries where each ideology can have a chance to flourish within a society unfettered by an opposing ideology of equal power.
The American experiment, in its original form and concept, was intended to offer a safety valve of sorts for this eventuality by implementing a federalist political system in which each state would have rights and powers outside the purview of the central government in Washington DC. In keeping with human nature, those who can claim more power will do so by any means available, and those in power in Washington, true to this behavioral axiom, have usurped much of the power once delegated to the individual state.
We therefore suggest that the time has come when the proposition of secession must be approached and submitted for examination.
This site is our attempt to allow visitors to conduct such an examination. We at Why Secede are not advocating, rather we believe the subject should be addressed and we add that the time is no wise too early.
